Two Tip Tuesday
...helping you build a better business!
6 Super Signs of Success
Signs play a huge role in advertising, branding and increasing visibility for your business. Obviously, their most fundamental purpose is to get your business noticed by as many potential customers as possible --- which should make signage a major part of your marketing program.
When prospective customers see your sign they become aware of your business and the services you offer.
They may not call you right away, but if they are aware of your existence, they will think of you when they or someone they know, are in need of your services. This is what's called 'top of mind' marketing.
If they hadn't noticed your sign, they may not have known about your services at all.
There are a variety of ways to utilize signs in your business, from the smallest---your nametag, to the largest---a banner. Let's discuss a few other great ideas in between.
Tip #1: Automatic Visibility
1. Make use of the empty space on the side and/or back panels of your car by attaching magnetic car signs to attract business. This is much more economical and dependable than paying for a series of newspaper ads because the car sign advertises for you year round.
You will be surprised how many people follow or stop you to ask about your services because they saw your car sign. The signs are detachable, so you can remove them when the occasion warrants it, otherwise every time you drive your vehicle you are advertising your company!
Idea: if you own a van and have a lot of space available, think about co-marketing and renting out a portion of the space to other businesses.
Idea: if you belong to a group or organization that has an annual event or trade show, a magnetic car sign is an ideal way to effectively promote your participation in it.
2. Another option for using your vehicle to 'show and sell' is vinyl window lettering and car wrapping. Vehicle graphics are a great way to advertise and are real attention-getters.
True Story: I came out of the bank one day and found a business card stuck in the driver side window. It was from a real estate agent who had written on it "I saw your company info on your van window. Need your services. Please call."
3. Personalized license plates are another way that your vehicle can draw attention and can be ordered through your state. Think of words relating to redesign, staging, organizing or decorating.
4. A more economical idea (suggested by IRIS members Donna Reynolds and Kris Moore) but just as effective, are personalized license plate holders with your business name, website or phone number displayed on the holder around your license plate. Check out www.autoplates.comfor more information.
Tip #2: Small Price – Big Presence
Great 'top of mind' marketing for your business can be created by attaching your business cards to peel and stick business card magnets (any office supply store will sell these) for easy display on refrigerators and steel cabinets.
2. Yard signs are an innovative way to promote your business while you are on the job redesigning, staging or organizing---and with the client's approval, can be left in place in the yard after you have completed your services. Other service providers like painters, remodelers, roofers, etc. do the same thing.
Suggested verbiage for yard signs:
#1(Logo on top) Professionally Redesigned (or Staged) by (your company name, phone number, URL). Use this after the project has been completed.
#2 (Logo on top) Redesign (or Staging) in Progress! Add your company name, phone number and URL. Use when you are in the process of staging or redesigning.
